Surfing Stress: Managing the Stress Response with CBT Skills

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is supported by research as an effective modality for treating trauma and stress responses for which trauma survivors of the event of May 7 and those experiencing anxiety may be more susceptible. 

These stress reduction exercises are foundational practices for managing the physical stress response and triggered anxiety responses, which result from traumatic experiences.  The goal of providing several simple skills is that participants will have the opportunity to practice each skill and find one or more that is effective for them or their adolescent. 

This psychoeducation presentation is not a substitute for, but instead intended as an adjunct to, traditional trauma- informed therapy.
