RE:Source Series - “Holding it Together”

Resources for when you are holding it together but it feels like the world is falling apart. We will be covering the complexities of trauma and grief.

Presented by Michelle Palmer with the National Crime Victims Research and Treatment Center

Michelle Palmer is a nationally recognized expert on trauma, grief, and mental health. Since August 2012, she has served as the Executive Director of the Wendt Center for Loss and Healing, the premier resource for restoring hope and healthy functioning to adults, teens, and children who are coping with grief, loss, and trauma in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Michelle brings nearly twenty years of clinical and managerial experiencing including working with sexual assault survivors and at-risk youth, designing and implementing professional trainings, and providing direction and oversight to federally-funded and other programs impacting the health and wellbeing of the region’s residents.

She has provided training and staff support to organizations including the American Civil Liberties Union, the Wynn Hotel in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting, and the District of Columbia Police Department’s homicide and juvenile services unit. Ms. Palmer provided mental health support to New Orleans residents in the wake of hurricane Katrina and led the Wendt Center response to the Navy Yard shooting; a response the garnered the Center an accommodation from the United States Navy. She also currently serves on the advisory committee for an initiative launched by Sheryl Sandberg, bestselling author and Facebook COO, designed to create a national conversation around grief, adversity, and resiliency.
